Hands-on DAIRY MANAGER needed for Organic dairy operation located in Northern California (60 miles north of San Francisco in the beautiful Point Reyes National Seashore area of Marin County). This is a wonderful opportunity to join a family company with a long tradition of dairy farming and the first certified organic dairy west of the Mississippi River. Currently there are 290 milking cows and 300 young stock with 660 total acres and 200 acres of it in silage. Responsibilities include managing all day-to-day operations:
• Staff management (five farm hands who all speak Spanish as first language).
• Budgeting- long term planning. Purchasing feed and supplies etcetera.
• Silage planting and harvesting.
• Milk quality, record keeping. Use Milk Watch.
• Daily feeding of the cows and selecting feed rations. Feeding calves and daily maintenance. Cleaning of stalls and pens. Health care of the calves and cows.
• Breeding of dairy cows (AI) and assisting with Veterinary checks.
• Cleaning corrals and maintaining bedding in the barns.
• General repairs and maintenance of the farm and milking barn.
• Project planning and scheduling. Other job-related duties and special projects as required.

Qualifications:
• Must possess current Dairy management and livestock background with a minimum of two + years of dairy farm and supervisory experience. Organic background a plus but not required.
• Bilingual skills. Must speak English and Spanish.
• Experience maintaining parlor equipment. Experience with planting and harvesting of silage.
• MUST be computer literate and proficiency with MS Office. (Word, Basic Excel, Outlook and budgeting tools/record keeping).
• Valid current US Driver’s license and clean driving record. Experience with driving tractors and trucks.
• 4 year Ag degree a plus.
• Ability to lift up to 80 pounds. In sound physical condition.
